The Rev Denise Binks
I moved to Reading in 2026 and feel very blessed to be here. I look after Christ Church, Woodley, and The Methodist Church Caversham which meets at Caversham Heights Methodist Church and Gosbrook Road Methodist Church.
My first appointment, based in Shaftesbury lasted eleven years serving 9 churches, although thankfully not all at the same time.! For the last year I had the great pleasure of working alongside Jo Throp, a pioneer pastor for Resonance Church in Fordingbridge (a New Places for New People project).
There is so much that I enjoy about ministry, from leading worship to sitting and chatting with mums and carers at a Toddler Group. Following God’s nudges, I seek to encourage and enable others to discover their gifts and callings as we discover ways of creating a safe space in the community to share God’s love and explore the Christian Faith which transformed my life as a teenager.
Much of my spare time is spent walking my beloved Cockapoo, Teddy (we have made many friends at Ashenbury Park) and caring for Jimmy, the guinea pig. I also enjoy cross stitch, embroidery, jigsaw puzzles and sudoku.
My husband, Alan lives in Church Crookham, and we have two grown up children David and Susan.

Deacon Sarah Wickett
Before I was a minister, I taught in primary schools for 25 years and have been a volunteer church youth leader. I have also been a Local Preacher for over 35 years.
I have been a Methodist Deacon since 2016, working with families, children and the older age group. In the Berkshire and Hampshire Borders Circuit, I lead the Later Years and Care Home mission group.
I enjoy meeting people and hearing their stories. I encourage them to grow in faith and volunteer in church and community.
I have been married to my husband Peter for 35 years and we have two adult daughters who live and work in London. I enjoy swimming, cycling and gardening. I love a good story, whether from a book, film or play.

Rev David Jenkins
Supernumerary Minister (A “supernumerary minister” in the Methodist Church is a minister who has formally retired from having pastoral responsibilities for churches but is often, as able, active in the circuit in leading worship and in other ways.)
I have been a Minister in various places and situations for 50 years.
My priorities as a Minister are leading worship and being available to people.
I go running most mornings.
My interests include composing and listening to music.
Integral to my life is prayer, music, a sense of humour and I am very fortunate to be with my wife who is also my best friend.
